ETABS Modelling & Structural Safety Checklist Generator

Generate a project-specific ETABS modelling and safety-verification checklist. Enter your building’s storeys, grid, structural system, materials, loads and seismic/wind criteria, and the tool builds a 12-phase checklist in the order ETABS itself needs — from units and grid setup through to design output and documentation — with calculated acceptance targets (period, drift limit, base shear, modal mass participation and more) worked out for your specific building, not quoted generically.

Items flagged hold are the ones where a mistake won’t show up as an obvious warning later — stop and verify each before moving on. Items flagged conditional appear only because of something you entered (a flat-slab system, a high seismic zone, a basement, pile foundations, and so on), so the checklist stays specific to your building instead of generic.

What the checklist covers

  1. Environment and units
  2. Grid and storey definition
  3. Material definitions
  4. Sections and stiffness modifiers
  5. Geometry and assignments
  6. Supports and diaphragms
  7. Load patterns and load application
  8. Mass source and load combinations
  9. Analysis settings
  10. Post-analysis sanity checks
  11. Structural safety verification — drift, torsional and soft-storey irregularity, P-Delta, overturning, punching shear and more
  12. Design run and documentation

Supports IS 456 / IS 1893 / IS 875, ACI 318 / ASCE 7, Eurocode 2 / Eurocode 8, and BNBC. Track progress with checkboxes (saved in your browser), filter to hold points or outstanding items only, and print or save the finished checklist as a PDF.

Notes and limitations

The calculated targets (empirical period, drift limit, seismic coefficient, indicative base shear) are empirical, code-based sanity bounds meant to check your ETABS output against — they are not a substitute for the design calculation itself, and the indicative seismic weight is an order-of-magnitude estimate only. Final acceptance of the model and the design rests with the responsible engineer.
